Due to Covid-19, as of April 2020
all workshops will be offered online.
Maria has extensive experience in designing and facilitating workshops. She is available to custom design a workshop for your organization based on your particular training and professional development needs. In addition to the Sexual Harassment Prevention workshop, she has an extensive background in developing interactive sessions on a wide variety of topics.
Below is a sampling of some of her offerings.
Change Cycle
Organizations go through change cycles just as inevitably as human beings. Change can create feelings of loss, confusion, and anger and it can also be an opportunity for growth and transformation. Acknowledgement and open discussion about the change are non-negotiable elements of successful change management. It can also be useful to have a context in which to understand some of the predictable elements of change. Maria often uses The Change Cycle materials, as a framework. She finds these materials provide a very accessible and meaningful way to understand change and what is needed in order to move productively through a change process.
Effective Supervision
Many supervisors are promoted to their new role without being given adequate training. The assumption being that since they were effective in their former position, they will automatically be good supervisors. The reality is that most people need adequate training to support them in the new role of supervisor. In her supervision workshops, Maria teaches the foundational skills of:
- Communicating Expectations
- Offering Supportive and Constructive Feedback
- Analyzing Performance Issues
- Problem Solving
- Coaching Techniques
- Work Plan Development
- Performance Evaluations
- Progressive Discipline
Her expertise is grounded in her own supervision experience, as well as seven years as a trainer for the CompassPoint workshops “Supervision: Helping People Achieve Results” and “Advanced Supervision.”
Effective Communication and Conflict Resolution
Understanding that conflict is a natural part of the human experience, Maria uses her experience in mediation and crisis counseling, to teach skills that help participants use conflict situations to learn more about themselves and about the people with whom they are seeking resolution. Her workshops include modules on:
- Conflict Styles Assessment
- Active Listening Skills
- Effective Communication Techniques
- Problem Solving Methods
- Effective Feedback
Teambuilding
Teambuilding is one of many ways for an organization to promote group cohesion, trust, and productivity. Typical teambuilding activities include assessing personality profiles and/or leadership styles, analyzing a group’s composite profile, building trust, and cooperative problem-solving. She uses a variety of assessments, evaluations, and exercises to help give a team different ways of thinking about their working relationships, group dynamics, and vision. She is also certified by Stratton Consulting in the Interpersonal Leadership Styles (ILS) Survey and can arrange for this to be a part of her work with your team.
Leadership Development
In 2008, Maria joined the training team of Rockwood Leadership Institute where she provides training to social justice leaders from across the nation. Rockwood focuses on six practices to help ground leaders in advancing their visions with integrity and effectiveness. To find out when she’ll be with Rockwood next please visit Contact Maria
